★ Ex Münzhandlung Basel 10, 1938, 733 and from the collection of H. Otto, Hess 207, 1931, 280 ★

KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.08 g, 12 h), Magnesia ad Maeandrum, 297/6-282/1. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; to outer left, filleted race torch; in inner left field, monogram of ΠYPO. Müller 443 var. (slightly differing monogram). Thompson 115. Beautifully toned and with an impressive pedigree. Light roughness near the edge, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From the Jolimont Collection, ex Leu 7, 24 October 2020, 1155 (but with an incomplete further pedigree), from an old Swiss collection, privately acquired form Leu in the 1980s (with original dealer's ticket), ex Birkler & Waddell II, 11 December 1980, 119 and Münzhandlung Basel 10, 15-16 March 1938, 173, and from the collection of Kommerzienrat H. Otto, Hess 207, 1 December 1931, 280.
