Anastasius I, 491-518. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.43 g, 7 h), Constantinopolis, circa 492-507. D N ANASTASIVS P P AVG Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust of Anastasius facing slightly to right, holding short spear with his right hand and a shield, ornamented with a horseman, over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG I / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long staff surmounted by christogram; to right, star. DOC 3i. MIB 4. SB 3. A lustrous example. Minor flatness on the portrait , otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
