Description

CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 3.17 g, 12 h), imitating Philip III of Macedon. Celticized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. IΛIΠΠVI (or similar) Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, monogram. Lanz 939. OTA pl. 45, 591. Good very fine.
