★ An attractive early Celtic imitation of an Alexander tetradrachm ★

CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Circa 300-250 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 15.91 g, 10 h), imitating Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞИΔPOY - EΛ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Λ. Dembski -. Lanz 875 var. An attractive example of early imitative style. Good very fine.
