★ An extremely rare solidus struck on the occasion of Heraclius Constantine's coronation ★

Heraclius, with Heraclius Constantine, 610-641. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.51 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, late January 613. [δ δ] N N hERACLIЧS ET hERA CONST PP AV' On the left, draped and short-bearded bust of Heraclius facing, wearing elaborate crown with trefoil; on the right, draped and beardless bust of Heraclius Constantine facing, wearing elaborate crown with trefoil; above, cross. Rev. VICTORIA AVGЧ Є / I // CONOB Cross potent on base and three steps. S. Bendall: The First Constantinopolitan Solidus of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, in: SM 157 (February 1990), pp. 6-7, fig. 1-2. DOC -. MIB -. SB -. Triton XVII (2014), 840 ( same dies ). Extremely rare, one of three known examples. A lustrous and attractive example of this important issue. Minor graffiti and with a few light scratches and some areas of weakness, otherwise, good extremely fine.

This wonderful issue was struck on the occasion of Heraclius Constantine's coronation on 22 January 613.
