★ Ex Classical Numismatic Group 58, 19 September 2001, 5 and Leu 13, 29-30 April 1975, 134 ★

ARABIA, Eastern. Ikaros/Failaka (?). Series with horizontal Shin, circa 222-205/4 BCE. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 15.90 g, 12 h), imitating Alexander 'the Great' (336-323 BCE). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΛPOY Zeus/Shams seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, 𐩦 ('s²' in South Arabian, horizontally). Arnold-Biucchi 5f. CCK 104 ( this coin ). Mørkholm, Failaka, fig. 3, 2-13. Price 3957. Lightly toned and unusually attractive. Good very fine.
