Description

★ A beautifully toned stater from Olympia pedigreed to 1909 ★

ELIS. Olympia. 82nd Olympiad, 452 BC. Stater (Silver, 26 mm, 11.82 g, 11 h). Eagle flying right with wings above and below, grasping a coiling snake with his beak. Rev. F-A Thunderbolt with wings above and volutes below; all within round incuse. BCD Olympia 28 ( this coin ). Seltman 43b and pl. 4, αζ ( this coin, AF/αζ). Beautifully toned and with an illustrious pedigree. Several banker's marks on the obverse, otherwise, about very fine.
