KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. 1/4 Stater (Gold, 11 mm, 2.18 g, 2 h), Amphipolis, struck under Antipater, circa 325-319. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a coiled serpent. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝ/ΔΡΟΥ Thunderbolt above bow and club. Price 165. SNG Alpha Bank 464-5. Very well struck and unusually attractive for the issue, a beautiful piece. A few minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
