KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.63 g, 2 h), Lampsakos, struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos, 323-317. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below the horses, head of Helios facing and monogram of ΑΠ. ADM II 111 ( same dies ). Le Rider pl. 90, 7. SNG ANS 282. A beautiful coin with a rare symbol and a particularly fine head of Apollo. Good extremely fine.
