Description

Forces of Galba in Spain. In the name of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.73 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group A.IV, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. CAESAR AVGVSTVS Head of Augustus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. DIVVS - IVLIVS Sidus Iulium: eight-rayed comet with tail downwards. BMC 49. CG 146.5 ( this coin ). Cohen 98 (Augustan prototype). Martin A 10. Nicolas A8. RIC 92. Very rare and struck on an unusually broad flan. Somewhat porous, otherwise, good very fine.
