Description

Forces of Galba in Spain. In the name of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.27 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group A.II, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. CAESAR [AVGVST]VS Head of Augustus to right, wearing oak wreath (?). Rev. DIVVS - IVLIVS Sidus Iulium: eight-rayed comet with tail upwards. BMC 49. CG 146.3 ( this coin ). Cohen 98 (Augustan prototype). Martin A 10. Nicolas A8. RIC 92. Very rare. Minor scratches on the obverse and with some surface cracks on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
