★ An aureus of Julius Caesar struck on an exceptionally broad flan ★

Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Aureus (Gold, 22 mm, 8.05 g, 6 h), with L. Munatius Plancus, praefectus Urbi. Rome, autumn 45 BC. C•CAES - DIC•TER Winged and draped bust of Victory to right. Rev. L•PLANC - PR•VRB Single-handled sacrificial jug. Babelon (Julia) 19 and (Munatia) 1. Calicó 44. Crawford 475/1b. CRI 60a. RBW 1663. Sydenham 1019b. An attractive example struck on an exceptionally broad flan. Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
