LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 340-334 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Subaeratus, 22 mm, 6.35 g, 3 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with a griffin; behind neckguard, pellet-in-P. Rev. ΥEΛHTΩN Lion walking to right; above, Φ. Cf. HN Italy 1284 and Williams 264 (O152/R203) (for prototype). Minor breaks in plating and with a test cut on the edge and a drill hole on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
