★ A charming 1/4 stater of Philip II ★

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. 1/4 Stater (Gold, 11 mm, 2.13 g, 3 h), Pella, struck under Philip II or Alexander III, circa 340-328. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Bow above club; below, trident right. Le Rider 82 (D53/R39). A charming example. Very minor nicks, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From a Viennese collection, formed in the 1990s.
