Description

★ A very rare quinarius from the Aedui ★

CELTIC, Central Gaul. Aedui. Circa 80-50 BC. Quinarius (Silver, 15 mm, 1.45 g, 12 h), Bibracte, area of the Mont-Beuvray. EDVIS Male head to right, with curly hair. Rev. [ORGETIRIX] Bear advancing right. D&T 3224. LT 4823-4 var. (ORGET). SLM 536-7. Very rare. Nicely toned and with an unusually complete obverse legend for the issue. Some areas of flatness and minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Helvetii Collection, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
