Draped and bearded bust of Peroz to right, wearing flat crown surmounted by two ram's horns and a lotus bud; to right, 'BAHRAM' in Pahlawi. Rev. 'BWLZAWNDY YZDTY' ('Exalted God', in Pahlawi) Exalted God emerges from fire altar, holding wreath in his right hand and long scepter in his left. ANS Kushan 2417. Very rare. A beautiful example with attractive earthen highlights. Good very fine.
From a collection of coins from Central Asia.
This interesting transition issue was struck by Peroz, an early Kidarite ruler, in the name of Bahram, the last of the Kushano-Sasanian kings. It can be distinguished from the issues of Bahram by the ram's horns on the crown, a distinctively Hunnic feature.
