SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos VIII Epiphanes (Grypos), 121/0-97/6 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 12.82 g, 12 h), Askelon, SE 201 = 112/1. Diademed head of Antiochos VIII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY Eagle, wings closed, standing left; behind, palm frond; in field to left, AΣ / IEP above dove standing left; to right, AΣ / L AΣ; between the eagle's legs, monogram. SC 2340.3 var. (differing monogram). Very rare. Harshly cleaned and corroded, otherwise, very fine.
