Description

Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Histamenon (Electrum, 30 mm, 3.75 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. +AΛЄΙΙⲰ ΔЄCΠΟΤ ΤⲰ KM Bust of Alexius I facing, wearing loros and crown with pendilia, holding labarum with X on shaft in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. SB 1893. Nicely toned. Edge chipping, otherwise, about extremely fine.
