Anonymous Folles. Follis (Bronze, 31 mm, 11.58 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation of an A2 Class follis struck in Constantinopolis. Uncertain mint, circa 11th century. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. [+IΛSЧO] / XNISZЧS / ASILЄЧ / bΑSILЄ in four lines. Cf. Sear 1813 (for prototype). Very fine.
