Description

INDIA, Mauryan Empire. Karshapana (Silver, 11x21 mm, 2.31 g), circa 2nd century BC. Five punches: bull standing to right, sun, three-arched hill, six-armed symbol with arrows and taurines and an uncertain symbol. Rev. Blank except for the 'Taxila' symbol. Gupta & Hardaker, Punchmarked Coinage of the Indian Subcontinent, 574. Nicely toned. Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, very fine.
