CRUSADERS. Edessa. Richard of Salerno, regent, 1104-1108. Follis (Bronze, 26 mm, 8.50 g, 7 h). Nimbate and draped bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels; in field to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. KE / BOHΘ / PIKAP / ΔⲰ ('Lord, help Richard' in Greek) in four lines. CCS 4. Metcalf, Crusades, p. 33, Richard Class 1. Porteous 3. Wäckerlin 162. Extremely rare and unusually attractive. The usual traces of overstriking, otherwise, good very fine.
