ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΛΟΥ ΑΥΡ ΟΥΗΡΟϹ Ϲ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Lucius Verus to right; before, countermark: AK within rectangular incuse. Rev. СYЄΔΡЄΩΝ Marcus Aurelius or Lucius Verus on horseback to right, raising his right hand in salute. RPC IV.3 online 8112 (3 examples). SNG Paris 640. For countermark, Howgego 514. Very rare. A lovely coin of excellent style with a beautiful green patina. Slightly rough, otherwise, good very fine.

Howgego suggests that the unusual countermark on this rare issue perhaps stands for A[YTOKPATΩP] K[OMOΔOC] = Imperator Commodus.
