Description

LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 300-280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.39 g, 7 h), Philistion Group. Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned, on the bowl, with a wing; below chin, Φ; behind neckguard, •K. Rev. YEΛΗΤΩΝ Lion walking to left; above, triskeles between Φ and I. Williams 469 (O235/R330). Beautifully toned and very well centered. Good very fine.
