Description

CELTIC, Central Europe. Vindelici. 1st century BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 7.77 g), 'Rolltier / Voluten' type. Convex surface with a dragon-like animal with the body of a serpent ('Rolltier') rolled up to left. Rev. Floral ornament formed of three double volutes with central pellet; all within shallow incuse. Dembski -. Flesche 290. Karl 240 ( this coin ). LT 9443. SLM 1079. Very rare. Weakly struck and with flan cracks on the obverse, otherwise, good fine.
