★ Very rare and from the collection of the T. Voltz, Auctiones 25, 19 June 1995, 1174 ★

CELTIC, Central Europe. Uncertain tribe. 3rd century BC. Stater (Gold, 20 mm, 8.34 g, 7 h), 'type de Brackenheim', imitating Philip II of Macedon. Laureate head of Apollo to right, wearing triangular earring. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and kentron in his right; below the horses, grain ear; in exergue, legend devolved into two lines of pearls. Allen, SNR 53 (1974), pl. 8, 14-15. DT 3022. LT 4832. Very rare. A particularly attractive example of lovely early style. Very fine.
