SICILY. Entella (?). Punic issues, circa 330-320 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.47 g, 2 h). Head of Tanit-Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain leaves, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. Unbridled horse leaping up three-quarters to right before palm tree with two date clusters. Basel 559 ( this coin ). Gulbenkian 363 ( same obverse die ). Jameson 913 ( same obverse die ). Jenkins 122-127 (O42/-). SNG Lloyd 1616 ( same obverse die ). SNG Lockett 1037 ( same obverse die ). Rare. Beautifully toned and of magnificent Greek style recalling the dekadrachms of Euainetos. Scratches and with some flan faults, otherwise, about extremely fine.
