BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 360-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.76 g, 5 h). Head of Hera Lakinia facing slightly to right, wearing stephane ornamented with two annulets between three palmettes and pearl necklace. Rev. [KPOT]-ΩNI-ATAN Youthful Herakles reclining left on a rock draped with his lion skin, holding one-handled cup in his right hand and resting his left on his club; below, bow. Basel 198 ( this coin ). HN Italy 2167. SNG ANS 371 ( same reverse die ). SNG Lloyd 616 ( same reverse die ). A beautiful piece of exceptionally fine style. A few scratches on the obverse and the reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.
