★ A late Rome style tetradrachm from Tarsus ★
CILICIA. Tarsus. Trajan, 98-117. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 12.28 g, 6 h), late Rome style issue, 103-111. ΑΥΤΟΚΡ ΚΑΙΣ ΝΕΡ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟΣ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡM ΔAKIK Laureate head of Trajan to right. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤ E Π Π MHTPOΠΟΛΕΩΣ City-goddess, turreted and veiled, seated right, holding palm in her right hand; to right at feet, river-god Kydnos, crowned with wreath of sedge, swimming right; in field to right, monogram of Tarsos. Prieur 754. RPC III 3257. Very fine.
