INDIA, Post-Gupta (Rashtrakutas). Dantidurga, circa 7th century. AE (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.36 g). Garuda standing facing with spread wings. Rev. SRI KHADGA/VALOKA ('Lord Khadgavaloka' in Brahmi) in two lines. Very rare. Some areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.

Khadgavaloka was an epithet of Dantidurga, the founder of the Rashtrakuta dynasty. He overthrew the rule of Kirtivarman II, the Chalukya ruler of Badami, and founded the imperial dynasty which would rule the Deccan for the next three centuries.
