Description

INDIA, Post-Kushan (Punjab). Kota Kula. Circa 360-460. AE (Bronze, 18 mm, 5.00 g, 12 h). Shiva standing facing, raising his right hand and placing his left above his companion, the bull Nandi, seated behind him. Rev. Kota symbol flanked by semi-circles; around, dotted border. Rare with Shiva and Nandi bull facing right. The reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine.

From a collection of coins from Central Asia.

The Kota Kula were likely related to the Huna people, and, more specifically, to the Kidarites.
