PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Diobol (Bronze, 28 mm, 18.30 g, 1 h), Alexandria, circa 275/4-260. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with spread wings standing left on thunderbolt; to left, monogram above Galatian shield; between eagle's legs, o. Lorber B177. SNG Copenhagen 123. Svoronos 586. A beautifully patinated and unusually well struck example. Very minor areas of weakness, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
