Description

CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Drachm (Silver, 20 mm, 3.22 g, 12 h), imitating Philip III of Macedon. Celticized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram. Dembski 1486. Flesche 746. Lanz 939 var. (differing monogram). OTA 591/3. Very fine.
