Description

L. Plautius Plancus, 47 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.85 g, 5 h), Rome. L PLAVTIVS Facing head of Medusa with coiled snake on either side. Rev. PLANCVS Victory (or winged Aurora) flying right, head to left, holding reins and conducting four rearing horses of the sun. Babelon (Plautia) 15. Crawford 453/1a. RBW 1583. Sydenham 959. Somewhat rough and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.

From a Swiss collection, formed in the mid 20th century.
