Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 302-290 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.88 g, 3 h), Sa... and Kon..., magistrates. Nude youth riding horse walking to right, raising his right hand to crown himself; below, ΣΑ above Ionic capital. Rev. [ΤΑΡ]ΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding serpent in his right hand and whip in his left; below, KON. Fischer-Bossert 956 (V372/R738). HN Italy 942 corr. Nicely toned. The obverse struck somewhat off center and with minor delaminations, otherwise, extremely fine.
