Order of the Black Eagle
A Grand Officer’s group of the Order: gilt silver badge, 70x52 mm, in the form of an elaborate, red enameled, 8-pointed star; red enameled centre medallion, painted with the Albanian black eagle, within red enameled outer circlet bearing the Order’s motto in gold lettering; reverse centre medallion with stylized monogram “W” within the date of institution in gold lettering on the outer circlet; suspension crown, round ring and oval ribbon ring; original neck short ribbon; breast star, 68 mm, in gilt silver, with red enameled rays, of similar design to the badge’s obverse; smooth reverse, with convex counter-medallion and broad, tapering pin.
A beautiful, extremely rare group of this order surely produced by Willibald Kluge, Berlin, official purveyor of this order to the Albanian Court; excellent condition.
Note: according to Klietmann-Neubecker “Ordens-Lexikon - 2”, this class was awarded 17 times only.
