The first volume of Marchant’s rare collection of numismatic writings, mostly concerned with Byzantine coinage but also touching on other medieval coinages including Islamic coins. This volume includes Letters 1–12. A further volume, comprising Letters 13–22, was published 1821–1827. A second edition, with commentary, appeared in 1851.
