Strobridge, William H. AUCTION CATALOGUES. New York, 1862–1878. Twenty-two different auction catalogues, being Adams Nos. 1*, 3, 4*, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9*, 10, 11*, 13*, 15*, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26*, 27, 28 and 29. Catalogues indicated with an asterisk are priced. No. 3 was removed from a previous binding and lacks the rear cover. No. 9 is worn, but is a hand-priced saleroom copy. No. 11 includes the printed prices realized list. Also included are T.R. Strobridge sales No. 1 and 7 (1878–1879). All 8vo, original printed paper covers. Generally very good or better. A solid group, accounting for 22 of the 29 catalogues issued by this talented numismatist. Of the Strobridge series, Adams writes: “Beginning with the Lilliendahl sale of May 1862, there follows an absolutely superb series of auction catalogs. While relatively brief in number (twenty-nine), these are unsurpassed in quality of content; twelve—more than 40%—receive a rating of A or better and only the non-numismatic sales fall below a rating of B.” Ex Cardinal Collection Library.
