The Roman Imperial Coinage

Mattingly, Harold et al. [editors]. THE ROMAN IMPERIAL COINAGE. VOLUMES I–IX. London: Spink. The first nine volumes, as issued in twelve. Publication dates of each volume are as follows: Volume I [revision], 1984 first printing; Volume II [original], 1972 reprint; Volume III, 1972 reprint; Volume IV [in three volumes], 1972 reprint; Volume V [in two volumes], 1972 reprint; Volume VI, 1973 first printing; Volume VII, 1972 reprint; Volume VIII, 1981 first printing; and Volume IX, 1968 reprint. Also included in the 1972 reprint of the first edition of Volume I. 8vo, original matching green cloth, gilt; two volumes with jackets, as issued. A very good or better set. The best overall work covering the entire range of the coinage of the Roman Empire. This set includes the 1984 revision of Volume I as well as a reprint of the first edition. Volume X (the final volume in the series), first published in 1994, is not here present. Clain-Stefanelli 4056*. Grierson 75. Kroh 70 (five stars): “covers the period 28 BC to 395 AD and it is the current standard reference used by all. This is definitely essential for all collectors.”
