Frontispiece; (4), 53, (1) pages; 12 very fine enlarged plates. Fine. Laid in are four photographically printed illustrations, as follow: 1) photographic print [25 by 20 cm] depicting the obverses of 12 Syracusan dekadrachms, labeled Decadrammi degli artisti ????????? e ???Ω? 413–1/2IV sec and signed (Ed.ni Brogi) 13856. SIRACUSA. Museo Archeologico. Monete con l’Aretusa e la Quadriga. 2) a similar print showing thirty (18 obverses, 12 reverses) coins depicting Philistis and a quadriga, labeled FILISTIDE moglie(?) di Jerone II and signed (Ed.ni Brogi) 13857. SIRACUSA. Museo Archeologico. Monete con la testa di Filistide e la Quadriga. 3) photographically printed illustration [25.5 by 20 cm] of the obverses of sixteen Syracusan dekadrachms, titled Some additional Syracusan Medallions (excepting Nos. 3 & 11) from the SANTA MARIA hoard, Sicily, which have come to light since Mr Arthur Evans’ description of that trouvaille, in his work “Syracusan Medallions and their Engravers in the light of Recent Finds” London, 1892, and signed Spink & Son London. 4) a very similar photographically printed illustration depicting the reverses of the same coins. Photos have some folds and marginal tears, with the Spink images having been folded for mailing. Very good. A handsomely produced work, still of considerable value. Clain-Stefanelli 2262*. Daehn 3148: “Illustrates all the known varieties of the Syracusan dekadrachms which bear the signature of Euainetos or which have a similar head on the obverse and are similar in design to the coins so inscribed.” A few carbon-copy letters are laid in, in which Salton is ordering copies from the distributor for $15 minus his discount. The photographs are most interesting. The first two are by Carlo Brogi (1850–1925), an Italian photographer
