ANTIGONOS GONATAS, king 277-239 BC. Tetradrachm. AR 17.13 g. In the center of Macedonian shield, draped bust of horned Pan l., lagobolon at shoulder; around, seven stars within crescents. Rev. BASILEWS - ANTIGONOU Athena Alkidemos advancing l., wearing crested helmet, peplos, chiton and aegis, holding round shield covered with aegis with her l. hand, throwing thunderbolt with her raised r. hand; in lower l. field, crested Macedonian helmet, r. monogram HP. SNG Oxford 3260. SNG Cop. 1202. Nicely toned.
