Andronicus II Palaeologus and Michael IX (AD 1294-1320). Anonymous Issue. AR basilicon (21mm, 6h). NGC AU. Constantinople, AD 1304-1320. KYPIЄ, Christ enthroned facing, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, right hand raised in benediction, book of Gospels in left; six pellets stacked in three rows of two to left of head, XC (barred) to right, small pellet under each arm, single border / AVTOKPATO-PЄC POMЄON, Andronicus II (on left) and Michael IX (on right), both standing facing, wearing crown with pendilia, saccos and loros, jointly holding labarum between them with circle on shaft below banner. Sear 2402 var. The typical obverse legend on this issue is KYPIЄ-BOHΘЄI, beginning at 2h on the obverse, and the field marks should be IC-XC (barred).
