Theodosius I, Eastern Roman Empire (AD 379-395). AV solidus (20mm, 4.39 gm, 6h). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5. Uncertain mint in northern Italy, ca. 9 August AD 379-25 August AD 383. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Theodosius I right, seen from front / VICTOR-IA AVGG, Gratian and Theodosius I, nimbate, enthroned facing, jointly holding globe, emperor on right with mappa in left hand; Victory standing facing behind with outspread wings, small upright palm in lower central field, COM in exergue. RIC IX 34j2 (Thessalonica).
