Andronicus II Palaeologus (AD 1282-1328), with Michael IX. AE/AV/EL fourée hyperpyron (20mm, 3.00 gm, 6h). VF, core visible. Ancient Counterfeit. Constantinople, ca. AD 1294-1320. Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary, orans, within circuit of city walls with four towers; sigla: */K-*/N / A/N/Δ/P/O-M/I/X/Λ, Christ, nimbate, wearing pallium and colobium, standing facing, IC-XC flanking head, crowning Andronicus II (on left) and Michael IX (on right) kneeling to either side, each wearing divitision and loros. Sear 2396. Fragile edge with core visible nearly all the way around the edges.
