Description

Elizabeth I (1558-1603) gold Sovereign ND (1587-1589) AU Details (Reverse Graffiti) NGC, Tower mint, Crescent mm, S-2529, N-2003. 15.10gm. The largest gold denomination to be produced during Elizabeth's reign; creased and with some minor flan cracks, an 'X' incised on the reverse, yet otherwise a firm AU with pleasing sharpness to the devices and rich original surfaces. A fabulous piece of Tudor engraving and popular in any grade. From a Private Japanese Collection
