Description

William IV gold 1/2 Sovereign 1834 MS65 NGC, KM720, S-3830. Small flan variety. The only year in which this small-size Half Sovereign was struck, the change implemented as an attempt to distinguish it from the similarly-sized Sixpence. However, it was deemed inconveniently diminutive and thus in 1835 was returned to its normal size. Popular and rare as such, the present offering represents the highest graded for type by either NGC or PCGS, a dazzling gem with perfect, unbroken, satin luster. From the Caranett Collection
