Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Rudolf August 3 Taler 1685-RB AU58 NGC, KM564, Dav-LS111. 76.62gm. Stamped '3' on reverse as mark of value. Intricately engraved to depict a girl playing the lute with the city stretching behind her, the reverse featuring a dramatic coat of arms and counterstamped at 8 o'clock. Lustrous beneath slate-gray patina, areas of the field exhibiting a faint violet hue, golden brown forming at the peripheries and in areas of the reverse design. Gorgeous, a piece of true numismatic art.
