Description

Zauditu gold Pattern Werk (1/8 Birr) EE 1917 (1925) AU58 NGC, Addis Ababa mint, KM-X3.1, Fr-26, Gill-YA21A. Obv. Crowned, veiled, and draped bust left. Rev. Crowned Lion of Judah left, head facing, cradling cruciform staff with banner in raised forepaws, full legend below. Variety with denomination obliterated. Struck with the reverse die for the 1/32 Birr type of Menelik II, the denomination officially effaced at the Addis Ababa mint. Brightly lustrous, only light scattered friction visible over the shallow design. From the Axum Collection
