MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 17.18 gm, 11h). NGC Choice XF 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, edge marks. Early Ptolemaic issue of Memphis (or Alexandria), under Ptolemy I Soter, as satrap, ca. 323/2-317/1 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, feet on stool, eagle in right hand, scepter in left; rose in left field, ΔI-O below strut and in inner right field. Price 3971. From a Private Japanese Collection.
