MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.40 gm, 4h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 3/5, edge filing. Late lifetime or early posthumous issue of Amphipolis, ca. 330-320 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing necklace and crested Corinthian helmet pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right, hair in four tight corkscrew curls and loose over left shoulder, crest ends long and divergent / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Nike standing left, wreath upward in right hand, stylis cradled in left; Boeotian shield in left field.
