Victoria silver Proof Pattern Centum (Florin) 1848 PR58 NGC, ESC-911. Obverse, large laureate head of queen l. Reverse, oak wreath and trident, ONE CENTUM-100 MILLES-ONE TENTH OF A POUND. This is one of the twenty-seven Patterns that William Wyon produced for the proposed new coinage of a Florin that would allow for better exchange within the European monetary system, featuring a beautifully engraved laureate bust of the Queen, a testament to Wyon's artistic skill. Though this design was never adopted, it remains as a rarity within the British series, available in only a small number. From the Morris Collection
